Who we work with
Our customers are venture capital-backed, high-growth tech companies, from startup to growth stage and enterprise; they range from 15 employees to over 50,000. Companies usually call us about account executive hiring when they close a funding round and have a hiring surge, start selling into a new segment such as enterprise, have had account executive hires that missed their number, or need more recruiting capacity for go-to-market roles without adding W-2 recruiting headcount.
Account executive roles we fill
We fill account executives across SMB, mid-market, commercial, enterprise, and strategic segments, including senior, principal, and majors roles. We also fill public sector account executives selling into state and local government, federal, and education, as well as the sales managers and sales directors who lead account executive teams.
Account executive hiring is part of our GTM and sales recruiting practice, and the recruiter on your search has hired account executives at your stage before.
Why account executive hiring is different
An account executive title tells you very little about how that person built their number. At one company, sales development sets most of the meetings, marketing brings in the rest, and the account executive runs discovery and closes. At another, the account executive prospects for most of their own pipeline and runs every deal from first touch to signature. Both can show strong quota attainment, and they aren’t the same hire.
Another challenge is matching the sales motion. Selling a transactional product to small businesses on a short cycle is a different job from breaking into strategic enterprise accounts, where deals run for months, involve several decision makers, and depend on finding out who owns the budget. An account executive who has only closed one kind of deal usually struggles with the other, so we match candidates to your product’s complexity, your deal sizes, your sales cycle, and who you sell into.
An important thing to consider is the stage of your company. An account executive who has only sold inside a large, well-resourced organization, with a full support team around them and a steady flow of inbound leads, often has a hard time at a startup or growth-stage company, where they have to build more of their own pipeline and the job description keeps changing. We look for account executives who have hit their number in an environment like yours.
A strong brand on a resume can hide the same gap. An account executive from a category-leading company has often sold with brand recognition doing part of the work. Selling a product the buyer has never heard of takes someone who has already done it.
Ramp expectations in high-growth tech are high, and they should be. The answer to an aggressive ramp is an account executive with the behavioral fit to meet it, so we keep the bar where it is and screen for that fit. Startup and growth-stage sales teams need drivers, not passengers: people who are proactive, take personal ownership of the result, learn the product fast, and do what it takes to hit quota. If your team works in the office, how a candidate talks about that matters too; an account executive who says they’ll come in if they have to is a red flag for an in-office team. When we’re unsure about behavioral fit, we recommend passing.
The stakes run both ways. Hire too slowly, and the best account executives on the market take other offers. Hire fast without the right evaluation, and you don’t get the best people.
How we scope an account executive role
Every account executive search starts with scoping the role with you: what you sell and who buys it, the segments you sell into, your deal sizes and sales cycle, whether the sale is consultative or closer to transactional, and whether your team follows a sales methodology such as MEDDIC. Then the seat itself: whether the role is full-cycle or focused on closing, how much of their own pipeline the account executive builds, and what share of qualified opportunities comes from sales development and marketing.
For account executive roles, we recommend a mock discovery on a product the candidate knows well. It shows how a candidate actually sells: the questions they ask, how they find the person who owns the budget, how they handle pushback, and how they close on next steps.
We also check track records. We tell candidates in the first round that we require references from previous direct managers at the offer stage. How candidates react to that tells us a lot.
How an account executive search runs
At kickoff, we review the roles with your hiring team and align on the interview process. Within 48 hours after the kickoff meeting, we meet with the hiring managers again to have a calibration meeting. We bring 10 candidate profiles to the table to ensure that we’re aligned and only interviewing relevant talent.

On track against the hiring plan
Initial recruiter screens happen in 3-7 days, and hiring manager interviews in 7-10 days. You have a full qualified candidate pipeline per role in 2-3 weeks. Initial hires typically land in roughly 30 days, and you’re on track against the hiring plan by 90. Time-to-fill runs 15-60 days depending on seniority and scope.
A common hiring mistake is picking the best of the first handful of people you speak to. We focus heavily on outbound sourcing to engage with a lot of talent. This ensures that you’re able to hire the best people on the market.
Along the way, our recruiters meet with your hiring managers weekly and communicate updates daily in your chat channels. You also get weekly metrics from the delivery lead who manages recruiter performance. Our recruiters also have access to our tech stack that accelerates identifying and reaching out to top talent: strategic AI sourcing and AI resume matching, multi-step, multi-channel outreach, and job postings. Everything runs in your systems, and you own your data and your candidate pool.
Most of the account executive hiring we do runs through Embedded Recruiting and RPO: a recruiter working only on your business, inside your systems. If your hiring is consistent, or there’s enough work for at least one full-time recruiter, it also cuts down on cost-per-hire. The engagement scales with your hiring plan, from adding capacity to your internal recruiting team to running recruiting as your talent function. You can see how these engagements run in our case studies.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to hire an account executive?
Most account executive roles fill in 15-60 days, depending on seniority and scope. You’ll have a calibration meeting within 48 hours of kickoff and initial recruiter screens in 3-7 days. Our customers see up to a 50% reduction in time-to-fill, and a 90%+ offer acceptance rate is achievable when calibration is done up front.
Do you recruit enterprise and strategic account executives?
Yes. Enterprise and strategic searches take longer because the pool of candidates who have closed deals of that size is smaller, so we scope the deal size, sales cycle, and buyers the role carries before outreach starts.
Are you account executive recruiters?
Yes. Your search is run by a go-to-market recruiter who has hired account executives at your stage.
